For students

For students

The "EdNet" Agency for Quality Assurance in Education works closely with students of Kyrgyz universities and members of international student organizations to activate quality assessment issues and participate in the independent accreditation process and is always ready to expand the horizons of its cooperation with other representatives of student communities.

The importance of students in accreditation

The independent accreditation process aims to create a favorable environment for the best preparation of students. The quality of education is checked through the knowledge of students and without the active participation of students, it is impossible to effectively build a quality assurance system in universities and improve mechanisms or teaching methods to improve education, therefore, student participation in the accreditation process is important and necessary.

Students in the quality assessment process

Students are direct beneficiaries in the higher education system, who invest their time and money in education, and, accordingly, they have every right to demand high quality educational services from the university where they study, because this will directly affect their competitiveness in the labor market after graduation. Today, thanks to the emergence of an independent accreditation system in Kyrgyzstan and the active development of quality assurance systems in universities, students have the opportunity to take part in assessing the quality of education at universities through cooperation with accreditation agencies, to become promoters on quality assessment among the student community and, thereby, to be heard in the education system.

Through closer and constant cooperation and involvement of students in the process of assessing the quality of education in Kyrgyzstan, a general level of responsibility for the proper quality of education in the country will develop, both at the level of educational organizations and among students, where students will play one of the key roles, thereby changing approaches and ideology in the development of the education system.

What is an expert committee at accreditation agencies and the role of students in it?

The Expert Commission is a group of experts that consists of teachers, employers and students and is created under independent accreditation agencies to assess the quality of education. Students in the expert committee have an equal vote among other experts and directly influence the final decision of the committee. As well as other experts, students are involved in the process of assessing the self-assessment report provided by the university where the accreditation will take place. Moreover, in order to make sure of the reliability of the information specified in the report, the expert commission visits the university. Based on the material in the report and the information collected during the visit to the university, students prepare a final report with recommendations on the status of accreditation, which will serve as the basis for the final decision on whether the program or university will work in the Kyrgyz market in the future. At the moment, in Kyrgyzstan, students are involved only in external quality assessment, but in developed countries with high indicators of the quality of education, where accreditation has been practiced for many years, students are involved within the university in many processes that affect the overall level of quality of educational services as an institutional one. and national levels. This is a chance for students to be heard.

Students as promoters of quality issues in their institution and in the community

Students and student organizations that already have experience in accreditation, in partnership with EdNet Agency, can act as promoters of quality assessment among students in their universities and thus inform and involve others in this process so that together they demand a quality education.

Accreditation Agency and Students

At the Agency, students are our partners, which gives them the opportunity to freely express their thoughts and be heard.

Many people ask "How can a student evaluate the educational process?" We answer - just like a teacher evaluates a student. For this the Agency conducts training courses with groups of students to increase their level of competence in accreditation and education quality assessment. We are sure that a student is a beneficiary who has the ability to see and understand the situation in the university from a different point of view, which is very important for the quality development of the education system, but is often not taken into account. Moreover, the student is the person who will be able to see and identify the problems of students that require further resolution.
